Obituary

Jimmy Sylvesta Mayfield was born on November 30, 1943. He graduated from Davie County Training/Central Davie in 1962. He served in the National Guard for several years, and retired from Baker Furniture in Mocksville. He was one of six children born to the late Clyde T. Mayfield, Sr., and Inez B. Mayfield of Autumn Care in Mocksville. His hobbies included gardening, playing Sudoku, and giving advice on how to save and spend money. Jimmy was an awesome dancer. He was a devoted son and loved his siblings. Although he did not attend church regularly, he contributed financially and cheerfully. He was willing to do whatever he was asked to do. In addition to his father, Jimmy was preceded in death by an infant son, Jamal Mayfield, and one brother, Clyde Mayfield, Jr. Jimmy was surrounded by his family at his side when he died on Friday, April 22, 1011, after a progressive battle with cancer. He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife, Bertha F. Mayfield; one daughter, Annette Carter of Woodleaf, NC; two sons, Stoney (Nicole) Mayfield and Dennis (Cassandra) Mayfield both of Detroit, MI; two step-children, Vicki and Jimmy Fortune both of Mocksville; four sisters, Annell Barker, Priscilla Williams, Syandra Mayfield, and Valerie (Hezekiah) Poag all of Mocksville; a devoted sister-in-law, Alberta Arnold; a devoted cousin, Shelby Neely; he and his wife shared ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of additional family and friends.
