Phyllis Ann Holland Pruitt, daughter of the late Allen and Rosie Lee Turner Holland, was born on September 19, 1955. She attended North Iredell School. In her earlier years Phyllis was employed by WonderKnit, Tarus Textile, Lee Jeans, and Crestwood Farms, before becoming disabled. She was a faithful member of Piney Grove AME Zion Church in Harmony. Phyllis gave God praises through her singing in the Mass Choir, Spiritual Choir, and serving as advisor of the Children's Choir. She was a member of the Gospel Travelers of Cooleemee, NC. Phyllis and Lonell have known each other for thirty-eight years and were married for twenty-three years. Her hobbies included softball, spades, sewing, fishing, and singing. She was a loving mother to her children, and also others in the community. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, J.C. Chambers, Charles Turner, James Holland, and Roy Holland. Phyllis was surrounded by family and friends celebrating her birthday when she departed this earthly life on September 21, 2013. She leaves to cherish her fond memories her devoted husband, Lonell Pruitt of the home; three sons, Cortez Holland of Georgia, Darrell Keaton of Cleveland, NC, and Gary Hickman of North Carolina; five daughters, Tonja Tucker of Camden, SC, Tiffany "TJ" James of Cleveland, Kimberly Kennedy, Michelle Stowe, and Melissa Knox all of Salisbury; four brothers, Larry (Vivian) Holland of Atlanta, GA, Stamey (Emma) Holland of Queens, NY, Otis Holland of Woodleaf, and Sammy Holland of Charlotte; four sisters, Martha Ann Johnson of Statesville, Carline (Willie) Ferrell, Margaret Peck of Statesville, Darlyn (Anthony) Rivers of Harmony; her father-in-law, Levander "Bill" Pruitt; one aunt, Mrs. Beulah Redmond; two sisters-in-law, Azalee (Howard) Stockton and Delores (Charles) Deese; one brother-in-law, Levi Pruitt, special relatives, Hazel Dillard and Annie Benson; twenty-nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one expecting to arrive in November; special cousins, Barbara Morris, Shelba Turner, Victoria T. Brown, and Sheila Keaton; special friends, Barbara Gaither, Nelda Chambers, Andrea Myers, Wilma Steele, and Ava Farmer; her caregiver, Olympia "Libby" Neely; many other relatives and friends. The Pruitt family extends thanks to everyone in the community for the kindness shown to them during this difficult time. May God bless each of you in a special way.
